In spite of blood pressure and headache is sometimes always linked, not necessarily mean that a person experience headaches because your blood pressure is in high levels. Knowledge of certain basic causes of the two would lead to greater transparency of their relationship.

Blood is transported from the heart to all parts of your body in the vessels called arteries. Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers – systolic pressure (heartbeat) and the diastolic (as the heart relaxes between beats). The pressure of blood against the walls of arteries when the heart beats is called systolic pressure. Pressure between heartbeats, when the heart relaxes is called the diastolic pressure. Many people climbs them pressure as they age. In fact, more than half of all Americans 60 have high blood pressure. However, having high blood pressure is not a normal part of aging. Two forms of high blood pressure have been described – essential (or primary) hypertension and secondary hypertension. Essential hypertension is a much more common condition and represents 95 % of hypertension. The cause of the essential hypertension is multifactorial, i.e. several factors combined effects cause hypertension. Essential hypertension affects approximately 75 million Americans. Diseases of kidneys can cause secondary hypertension. This type of secondary hypertension is called renal, hypertension because it is caused by a problem in the kidneys.
